Impact100 Essex Holds Membership Drive

Impact100 Essex, a women’s giving collective that awards grants to nonprofits servingEssex County, is looking to expand its membership and is holding weekly virtual information sessions for prospective members. Now in its fifth year, the organization has awarded over $500,000 to local nonprofits focused on underserved communities in Essex County.
“Impact100 Essex enables women to amplify the power of their giving by collectively awarding transformative grants,” said Sunanda Sharma, Chair, Membership Committee, Impact100 Essex. “It is also a tremendous opportunity to learn about the great work being done by local nonprofits and to meet other women who share our mission to make a difference in our communities.”
This is a great time to join Impact100 Essex as the organization’s 2021 grant cycle has just begun. Many members choose to join grant review teams that review letters of intent and grant applications submitted by Essex County nonprofits. At the end of the grant cycle, a $100,000 Impact Grant will be awarded. Last month, Impact100 Essex announced the additional funding of a $30,000 Equity Grant for a nonprofit that is led by an individual who identifies as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color).
“Through the grant review process, I get a close look at nonprofits focused on youth homelessness, food insecurity, children facing trauma, safe spaces for LGBTQ youth, and much more,” said member Kerri McMahon. “I love how my contribution gets pooled with other members to collectively make a large grant that can transform lives.” Added member Kate Shoemaker, “Now that our 2021 grant cycle has started, I love rolling up my sleeves with the Impact100 Essex community as we collectively dive in. It is inspiring!"
